While I was in the process of writing this novel, I had to learn how to accept feedback, especially when I was the one who asked a friend or family member to review a paragraph or chapter. I soon discovered that it slightly bothered me because I was the one who came up with the storyline, I was the one who put in all of the work, I was the one who sat at the computer for 6 – 8 hours each day, it was my imagination at work that developed the characters. I had the impression that they did not understand how I was thinking, nor were they familiar with the background of the characters I had created. Honestly, I wore my emotions on my sleeve since I was fairly sensitive about my work and didn't want anyone to misunderstand me.
My objective was to create a nearly perfect product, and if I didn't want their assistance, I had to cease asking. Well, I didn't stop asking; I toughened up and kept asking. I thoughtfully considered their recommendations for enhancement. So, to all of the people who sat across from me at the kitchen table, the ones that I bothered with a phone call, text message, or email, I sincerely appreciate your feedback.
Your feedback allowed me to view my work from a different angle, assisted me in minimizing errors, and pushed me to become a better writer. Consequently, my creativity grew beyond my ability to measure, and I completed my first novel.
Yes, this is my fictional work, but each of you contributed to my success. Therefore, when you read this novel, you will observe that I followed your advice.
Thank you
